Broadband Alternatives

Although almost all of the UK telephone exchanges have now been broadband (ADSL) enabled, there are still locations where the distance to the exchange means that ADSL  is either not possible or, if it is possible, will only allow very slow speeds.  Many broadband providers will tell you there are no other options.  This is not true.  We offer a range of services that can provide high speed internet to anywhere in the UK irrespective of location:

Remote Wireless Broadband (RWB)

This should always be the first choice for performance and affordability.  Using high speed 5 Ghz radios, we are able to connect a remote site directly to a location where fast broadband is available without any loss of performance.  Distances of upto 12 miles are possible however this varies greatly depending on the terrain, heights above ground of the two locations and what height the radios can be mounted.  Typically distances are under 5 miles using roof height devices however this is normally more than sufficient to provide extremely fast links in most situations.  The radios themselves are no bigger than a sky dish and are very discrete.  Contact us for a free initial assessment of feasibility for your location.

3G

Normally the second choice if broadband Extension over Radio is not feasible due to terrain constraints.  3G coverage is getting better every day and the speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps are possible.  Following a site survey, CBR Networks can install a 3G router in a suitable location and connect the rest of your site by Wireless (Wifi) or fixed ethernet (Cat V copper or fibre).

Satellite Broadband

Often, the third choice if Broadband Extension over Radio or 3G is not feasible due to terrain constraints.  The service costs more than Broadband Extension over Radio and the performance is not as good as terrestrial (ADSL) broadband due to the distance of the satellites from the earth however it can be provided anywhere in the UK and is generally not as expensive as a leased line.

Leased Line

This is generally the most expensive of the broadband alternatives however performance is better than satellite broadband and comes with a guaranteed quality of service.  Generally used in lieiu of satellite broadband / 3G or as a backup to an ADSL connection where performance and a guaranteed service is required.
